Friday 3rd June
Drove to Horley, stayed in B&B, where we've parked the car for the fortnight.
Saturday 4th June
Flew from Gatwick to Dallas, then to Salt Lake City. Lovely views of an electric storm over Dallas.
Picked up hire car at SLC and drove a short distance to our hotel.
Sunday 5th June
Long drive from SLC to Springdale, just outside Zion. Checked in at the Pioneer Lodge.

Drove into Zion National Park and walked up to Hidden Canyon (an 800 foot climb). Spent a few hours making our way up the canyon, with the help of rope.
Monday 6th June
Wanted to climb Angel's Landing, but the walk was closed due to toilet maintenance.
Instead, we tackled the Observation Point walk - a 2200 foot climb, over a 4 mile walk (and the same coming down again).
Tuesday 7th June
Andrew had food poisoning so stayed in bed. The others walked to Subway Canyon, a slot canyon with curved walls, and had lots of fun...
Wednesday 8th June
A relaxing day - a light stroll along the Riverside Walk to the start of the Narrows.
Thursday 9th June
Climbed to Angel's Landing.
1500 foot, 2.5 miles
Friday 10th June
Lower Emerald Pool walk, and along the Kayenta Trail to the next bus stop up. Drove to Lava Point to look over Zion Canyon.
Saturday 11th June
Andrew and Sue started early and drove through the tunnel that leaves Zion Park. Started the Canyon Overlook trail, but turned back because it started raining. Met up with the others for breakfast.
Drove to the Kolob entrance to Zion Park, on the West side, and stopped at the visitor centre to see what is worth visiting. Since it was raining, we decided to carry on.
Drove up over the mountains by Cedar City, near Cedar Breaks. The rain turned into snow, which started settling quite thick.
